The club is independently chartered by the San Joaquin County Democratic Party. The purposes of the club are:
• To grow our local Democratic Party by recruiting (or inviting) more like minded grass root activists to join us here at GLAD;
• to uphold the principles and goals of the Democratic Party;
• to identify and assist in recruiting persons who are potential public office holders at the local, regional and state levels;
• to invite speakers to inform the members on various topics; • to support informational booths at community functions, and;
> Raising wages, closing the wealth gap, strengthening Social Security
> Lowering health costs, stabilizing Medicare and Medicaid
> Defending our borders, our ideals and our institutions
> Sensible immigration reform that keeps America’s promise
> Supporting our veterans and military families
> Fixing our criminal justice system to eliminate systemic racism
> Guaranteeing rights for minorities, people with disabilities, the LGBTQ community and all Americans
> Acting to advance women’s rights, protect access to reproductive care, fight for equal pay, stop violence against women, and elect more women to public office
> Protecting and promoting every American’s fundamental right to vote
> Advancing clean energy and climate change action
> Common sense gun reforms
> Smarter infrastructure investments
> Advancing access to liberty and equality for all
> Investing in modern education and jobs programs that prepare our kids for tomorrow’s challenges

Below is Article II of GLAD's Bylaws regarding dues:
Section 1. All duly registered Democrats shall be eligible for membership in this organization. A member shall be considered in good standing if their dues are current, or have been waived due to economic hardship and their voting rights being subject to compliance with the other provisions of these By-laws.
Section 2. Dues will be set by club membership.
Section 3. The membership year for dues payment shall run for twelve months from April of each year. Dues paid at other times will be prorated to the following April.
Section 4. Any member who does not pay the annual dues by July 31st, will be dropped from the club membership roster and club mailing list.
Dues for 2022-23 are $30 for an individual membership; $50 for a family membership $5 for a student membership.
A one-time 50% off discount rate is being offered to any new members recruited for 2023!
